Leaf Rapids have released an excellent new country-western track just in time for spring. The song, “April,” recalls a simpler time. Fronted by husband & wife Devin and Keri Latimer, Leaf Rapids was spawned out of the dust of their former indie folk group, Nathan.
The group describes their latest record as “a soundtrack for the modern cowboy-part Canadian trucker, part Manitoba Motown.” With that diverse range of influences, it is easy to see why the group has been so successful.
Reflecting on their overall sound they, “resemble the Canadian grasslands, as beautiful as they are harsh, taking notes from Canada’s soft tones and tough seasons.” Leaf Rapids goes through a variety of sounds on their newest album, and “April” represents their pronounced country side.
