Kat Danser is from Edmonton, Canada. Her Music, while being rooted in the blues, draws on a wide range of styles from various locations. Her latest album One Eye Open combines blues with elements of Afro Cuban jazz and traditional New Orleans music with detours into punk (on the song One Eye Closed) and traditional country on the Patsy Cline influenced ‘Please Don’t Cry.’ Danser has a confident, expressive voice that matches the no-nonsense lyrics in the mostly self-penned songs. Tremendous backing too, with lovely instrumental details and solos, plus atmospheric horn arrangements. Producer and guitarist on the album is Steve Dawson.
