The latest album from singer songwriter John Wort Hannam titled Long Haul deals with themes of everyday life and experiences gathered along the path. Stuck in isolation Hannam picked up his guitar and found a quiet place in his home to sort things out that were happening and to try to make music somehow. When the songs finally coalesced he headed to the studio with ace backing from Steve Dawson (guitars), Fats Kaplin (fiddle/mandolin/banjo/accordion), Gary Craig (drums), Jeremy Holmes (bass), and Chris Gestin (keyboards). Highlights from the album include the title track "Long Haul" about balancing marriage, fatherhood and his music career, "Hurry Up Kid" about the swift passage of time when raising your kids, "Wonderful Things" about appreciating life's blessings, the two step duet with Shaela Miller "Beautiful Mess" about a not so great relationship, "Old Friend" about missing those gone from our lives, the confessional tale of regrets "What I know Now", "Meat Draw" a humorous story of the ubiquitous meat raffle, the slinky groove and tale of the folks at the "Twilight Diner", "Other Side of the Curve" and "Young At Heart" a toast to a life fulfilled.
