The common denominator of earth and sky that defines the Canadian Prairie has influenced many an artist — literary, visual and musical. Keri Latimer fell under the Prairie spell after moving to Winnipeg.
The lead singer for the award-winning alt-country band Nathan sometimes likes to go it alone. On "Lucky Stars" she teams up with husband and Nathan drummer Devin Latimer, in addition to longtime musical friend/collaborator Steve Dawson.
Acknowledged as a guitar ace and producer with big ears, Dawson has assembled a fine cast of supporting musicians to act as an aural backdrop to Latimer's aerie vocals. Dawson plays acoustic and electric guitars, slide, pedal steel, banjo, organ and backup vocals, Gary Craig handles drums, Matt Combs joins in on fiddle and Sarah Dugas contributes harmony vocals.
"Lucky Stars" is the latest addition to Dawson's expanding roster at Black Hen Music.
